St. Mary’s Choir is a group of approximately 28 men and women who rehearse on Thursday evening at 7:30 P.M. The choir sings a variety of music from all periods of choral literature. They lead the singing at the 10:00 A.M. mass and other liturgies throughout the church year, including Christmas Eve, the Easter Triduum, and the Advent Service of Music and Readings. Accompaniment is primarily organ, though some piano is used. Instrumentalists from both within and outside the parish are used from time to time during the year. A simple interview to establish what section of the choir fits your voice is all the is required. The group has both trained singers and amateurs and holds at least one social event per year. The Contemporary Choir is a smaller group which leads the singing at the 12:00 Noon mass. They rehearse before the noon Mass, at 11:30 each Sunday. The group includes approximately 7 singers, recorder, guitar and piano. An interview is required for either instrumentalists of singers. Since the group is small some ability to read music is helpful. Contact Director of Music, Ted Feldmann, at the parish office for further information.
St. Mary’s Arts Program includes several concerts in the church each year. See the Sunday Concert Series for information on the 2009-2010 Series. |
